Workshop- Women in Applied and Computational Mathematics
This three-day event, hosted at the Gran Sasso Science Institute in L’Aquila (Italy), is designed for researchers challenged by the application of various techniques in modern analysis and computational mathematics to intriguing problems arising in physics, material science and biology.
The main purpose of the workshop is on the one hand to provide a stimulating environment for scientific discussions and collaborations for both junior researchers and experts and, on the other hand, to be a platform to address the question of supporting women participation in research, which will be the goal of a dedicated panel session.
The conference will consist of ten plenary lectures delivered by expert female researchers in the field and a poster session for young participants.
The workshop is a key activity of the European Innovating Training Network ModCompShock (Modelling and computation of shock and interfaces) with the aim to attract women to a career in science by promoting the presence of female speakers already involved in research.
