Doctoral Fellowships in Mathematics - Neuchatel, Switzerland

Within the framework of the Swiss National Science Foundation project "Higher-dimensional geometric and combinatorial structures'' two Doctoral Fellowships are available. The tentative start date is January, 2018 (or at an earlier convenience). The application deadline is December 1st, 2017.

Each position has duration of maximum four years. All candidates must hold a Master's degree, or an equivalent.

In addition to working towards their Doctoral degree, the successful candidates are expected to assume teaching duties, and to master a working level of French within a year from the start date. They are also expected to collaborate in research seminars and perform other related tasks.

The doctoral study will concentrate in the areas of hyperbolic geometry, geometric topology, group theory, and related topics (e.g. geometry of polyhedra and manifolds, as well as its connections with Coxeter groups and combinatorics). These positions carry a competitive salary which starts at approximately 42'000 CHF per annum (gross income).
