Doctoral (PhD) position at the University of Vienna

Applications are invited for a PhD-student position starting in December 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment is limited to three years. The annual gross salaries is approximately 18 kEUR.

The successful candidate will join the Research Group on Applied Mathematics and Modeling at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna led by Prof. Ulisse Stefanelli.

The position is financed via the FWF grant GloVE- Global Variational Methods for Evolution Equations. The successful candidate is expected to join the research activities of the Group and contribute to the development of the project. The position is associated with the enrollment in the PhD program in Mathematics at the University of Vienna.

Applicants should have a Master in Mathematics or Physics, as well as a strong background in applied analysis. The current interests of the Group include calculus of variations, partial differential equations, and continuum thermomechanics.
