Multiple Postdoctoral Positions in Astrophysics and Applied Mathematics

The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Goettingen, Germany, invites applications for several postdoctoral positions in astrophysics and applied mathematics. The positions are available in the Solar and Stellar Interiors Department from as early as 9 October 2017 for a period of three years, with the possibility of an extension. The start date is negotiable. A number of projects are available to study and interpret the oscillations of the Sun and distant stars using seismology techniques. Topics of interest include (1) modeling solar/stellar interiors, (2) developing a forward solver to model the wave field in the solar interior, (3) linear and non-linear inverse problems, or (4) high performance computing, machine learning, visualization. MPS is conveniently located on the North Campus of the University of Goettingen.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in either physics, astrophysics, geophysics, applied mathematics, or scientific computing. Applications should include a CV, a full list of publications, degree certificates and a proposed start date.
