The research group on Differential Geometry at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena invites applications for a Ph.D. position. The starting date of the position is April 1, 2018 or later and the position will run for 3 years.


The successful candidate will be involved in a research project situated at the intersection of Geometric Analysis and Integral Geometry, dealing with topics such as: isoperimetric problems for convex bodies, the Minkowski problem, curvature invariants and valuations on manifolds. The precise research direction within the project will be chosen under consideration of the candidate’s background and interests.



  • an excellent master's degree in Mathematics

  • good English language skills are mandatory

  • a background in differential geometry is desirable.


The position is within the TV-L E 13 German public sector pay scale and is offered at a 75% base in conjunction with a teaching obligation of three hours per week during the semester.
