PhD position, Numerical Algorithms, University of Strathclyde, UK

In the Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing team of the Department of Mathematics
and Statistics of the University of Strathclyde we are looking to fill a fully funded
3-year PhD position by the Centre for Numerical Algorithms and Intelligent Software (NAIS). Any EU student is eligible for funding.

The project is related to the development and analysis of accurate and scalable
domain decomposition solvers for the Navier-Stokes equations. The first steps
would be to propose and analyse the corresponding schemes for the Stokes and
Oseen equations. Particular attention will be paid to the robustness of the
solvers with respect to the physical constants, and to the efficient parallel implementation
of the resulting algorithms. For a full description of the proposal see
http://www.strath.ac.uk/mathstat/prospectivepostgraduates/availablephdprojects/

The candidate should have a strong mathematical background, hopefully with emphasis on
numerical methods for PDE's. Computational experience is also desirable. To apply (or for
any further enquiry), please contact:
