PhD/Postdoc position in stochastics

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Kassel invites applications for a

PhD or PostDoc position (75% or 100% EG-13 TV-H)

in Stochastics. It is a three year position, with a possible extension of further two years (PhD) or further three years (PostDoc). The starting date is flexible, but preferably as soon as possible.

Tasks:
- assistance in research and teaching of the subject area
- independent research in the context of at least one of the following fields: stochastic analysis, theory and numerical analysis of stochastic (partial) differential equations, statistics of stochastic processes, (partial) differential equations with random data, uncertainty quantification

Requirements:
- master's degree (or equivalent qualification) in mathematics or a related discipline (by the time the employment starts)
- for the full-time PostDoc position: additionally a PhD in mathematics
- advanced knowledge in probability theory
- pedagogical aptitude

Of advantage are:
- interest in interdisciplinary research cooperations, e.g., with engineering research groups
- advanced knowledge in one of the research fields mentioned above
- advanced knowledge in analysis, numerical analysis, statistics
- experience in programming, e.g., MATLAB, R
- very good organizational and communication skills
- very good command of English
