WIMAG (Wave Imaging) is an interdisciplinary project gathering several laboratories from the University Côte d’Azur and is funded by the IDEX – UCA JEDI (http://univ-cotedazur.fr/english/idex-uca-jedi)
Wave imaging deals with the identification and control of a variety of systems whose characteristics (physical, biological or physiological) are retrieved from the interaction between an object or a set of objects and a wave (mechanical, seismic, electromagnetic). Lying at the frontier between fundamental and applied research, this topic concerns a wide range of fields, including medicine, telecommunications, environment, earth and planetary science, material sciences, transportation, defense and security. Enhancing the performance of wave imaging devices is a key factor in the improvement of our understanding and command of many specific phenomena in the above-mentioned areas. However, due to their increased complexity, significant advances are required in the modelling, analysis, computer-aided design, optimization and manufacturing of such devices.
We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher wishing to work in the stimulating research environment offered by the UCA campus in the technopole of Sophia-Antipolis where most of the partners of the project are located. The ideal candidate will have completed a PhD thesis in one of the relevant research topics for the project and have skills in one of the following fields: inverse problems, numerical methods for partial differential equations, mathematical and physical modelling, numerical optimization, data assimilation, optimal control. The postdoctoral position is available for a period of one year with a 2200€ net salary per month.
