PostDoc with strong mathematical background for project in Reinforcement Learning
For the European coordinated research project "DELTA: Dynamically Evolving Long-Term Autonomy" funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) we are looking for a PostDoc with strong background in mathematics (such as dynamic programming, probability theory, statistics, optimization, OR) and interest in reinforcement learning.
DELTA is a joint research project involving partners from Austria, Belgium, France, and Spain. Work will include visits to and collaboration with other sites. Research at our institute under the supervision of Prof. Peter Auer will focus on the development and analysis of reinforcement learning algorithms for exploration in changing environments. Starting point is the UCRL algorithm [Jaksch et al., Near-optimal regret bounds for reinforcement learning, JMLR (11) 1563-1600, 2010].
The position is for 3 years beginning with January 2018. Salary is about 50000 EUR per year (after taxes and insurance contributions this is net about 33000 EUR) including benefits like health insurance.
