# Postdoctoral Fellow in Algebraic and Arithmetic Geometry

at the Department of Mathematics. Closing date: 20 June 2018.

The Department of Mathematics at Stockholm University has 37 faculty members, and it is divided into two divisions: Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics. This postdoctoral position is attached to the former. The Division of Mathematics carries out research in a wide range of subjects in pure mathematics, including algebra, analysis, combinatorics, geometry, logic and topology. The faculty members with interests in algebraic and arithmetic geometry includes Jonas Bergström, Rikard Bøgvad, Wushi Goldring, Håkan Granath, Dan Petersen and Boris Shapiro.

Project description
The position is funded by Jonas Bergströms KAW-project Geometry of moduli spaces of algebraic curves and the research interests of the candidate should include the cohomology of moduli spaces of curves and abelian varieties.

Main responsibilities
The main responsibility is to carry out research. The position also includes some teaching duties (up to 20 %), which may include supervision of students. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the activities of the department, through active participation in seminars, working groups, etc.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.

In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills. Emphasis will also be placed on the candidate’s potential to contribute to the proposed research program.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date 2018-09-01 or as per agreement.
