a Research Associate
(part-time, fixed-term for 3 years, E13 TV-L)
We are looking for an individual to work on a project in mathematical genetics. The project is part of thePriority Programme on "Probabilistic Structures in Evolution" (DFG-SPP1590), which offers an excellent research environment. The same holds for Bielefeld University, a particular strength being due to close interaction between biomathematics, mathematics, bioinformatics and biology.
Concretely the tasks comprise
- Research about genealogical processes under various combinations of genetic processes such as mutation, selection, and recombination (100%)
- Master or Diploma degree in Mathematics, Biomathematics, or Mathematical Statistical Physics
- Solid knowledge of probability theory
- Solid knowledge of the English language
Salary will be paid according to Remuneration level 13 of the Wage Agreement for Public Service in the Federal States (TV-L). As stipulated in § 2 (1) paragraph 1 of the WissZeitVG (fixed-term employment), it is a fixed term contract for 3 years. If the project is successful, the contract may be extended. In accordance with the provisions of the WissZeitVG and the Agreement on Satisfactory Conditions of Employment, the length of contract may differ in individual cases. The employment is designed to encourage further academic qualification. It is suitable for a doctoral dissertation (German PhD). The position is advertised as a 75% part-time job. In individual cases, this percentage may be reduced on request, as long as this does not conflict with official needs.
