■School of Mathematics & Applied Statistics
■Fixed Term (3 year) Appointment
The School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics is a vibrant and collegial community with a strong track record in research and teaching. The School has several areas of research expertise, including partial differential equations, operator algebras, financial mathematics and applied statistics. The School is now situated in the new Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences at the University of Wollongong.
Transportation, traffic, communication and energy networks form the backbone of our modern society. To deal with the uncertainty, variation, unpredictability, size and complexity inherent in these networks, we need to develop radically new ways of thinking. The ultimate goal is to build self-organizing and intelligent networks.
NETWORKS is a 10-year programme funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science through the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research.
NETWORKS is hosted by four research institutions:
University of Amsterdam (UvA)
Applications are invited for a full-time ERS position (leading to a PhD degree) at the Department of Mathematics University of Bologna within the Marie Curie ITN project MAnET.

This vacancy is devoted to the mathematical modeling of the interaction between tidal water motion and sediment transport. An important aim is to reproduce and understand the occurrence of high turbidity that is observed in several tidal rivers.
The approach will make extensive use of methods from dynamical system theory (stability analysis and bifurcations) and asymptotic
solution methods. People who have experience with such methods and are interested in understanding physical mechanisms are strongly invited to apply.
Postdoctoral position: Adaptive Brain-Motor Mapping
Neuroprosthetics is an interdisciplinary field related to
neuroscience, bioelectronics and biomedical engineering, which aims to
substitute a motor, sensory or cognitive function that might have been
damaged as a result of an injury or a disease. One of the challenging
issues in motor prosthesis is the large variety of patient situations
depending on the type of neurological disorder. To overcome the current
limited performance of such systems, a robust bio-signal processing and
There is an open post-doc position at University of Würzburg (group of A. Schlömerkemper), which can be filled at the earliest convenience in the area of the calculus of variations and partial differential equations. It is for 3 years with possible extensions. The teaching duties that come with this position can be provided in English initially. International experience as well as some experience as a post-doc are desired. This position can lead to a qualification for a professorship (habilitation).
The Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance wishes to appoint up to three Postdoctoral Research Fellows. The post will be based at the Oxford-Man Institute, Eagle House, Oxford.
If successful, you will be sponsored by the ERC advanced grant, working with Professor Terry J. Lyons FRS, on the project “Creating rigorous mathematical and computational tools that can summarise high dimensional date streams in terms of their effects”.
Three partners, l’Institut IRAMAT - CRPAA in Bordeaux, the Laboratoire de mathématiques Jean Leray in Nantes and the Laboratoire Geosciences in Rennes, involved in Chronomodel project (ANR 2011-2015) developed an original software, named chronomodel, which is dedicated to the chronological modeling with a Bayesian statistical approach. This software provides support for the development of chronological scenarios from a large number of data involving time, using models more or less complex (via the stratigraphy, the phasing, the correlation data, the calibration functions,…).
The math department at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina - UFSC, seeks out applicants to fill 13 permanent professor positions. There are 8 position for Mathematics, 4 positions for Applied Math and 1 positon for Math or Math Education.
Application deadline is the 29th of April, but due usual difficulties for foreigners to apply we suggest applications to commence much earlier. The website with information about the hiring process is
