The Johann Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science of
the University of Groningen invites applications for
Tenure Track Assistant Professor positions in Dynamical Systems &
Applications and in Stochastics of Large Systems
One position is in Dynamical Systems and Applications in the broadest
sense. The expertise may range from fundamental aspects to computational
ones with applications in various application areas. The expertise may
include elements of the disciplines Analysis, Geometry, Measure Theory
The Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa announces a selection, based on work to date, for n° 3 grants for research as part of the European Project ERC-Advanced Grant “Diophantine problems” (Grant Agreement No. 267273). The scientific project is coordinated by the Principal Investigator, Prof. Umberto Zannier.
The subject matter will concern integral and algebraic points on varieties, diophantine problems in number fields and in function fields. More specifically, it is expected that the research of the recipients of the grants will be devoted towards some of the following directions:
The Division of Systems and Engineering Management (SEM) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore invites applications for multiple post-doctoral positions, effective ideally in the August 2013 – January 2014 timeframe (or until the positions are filled). The initial appointment will be for a period of one year. This can be extended depending on the candidate’s research performance and budget availability. Candidates are required to have a PhD in Operations Research.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Université Laval invites applications for a tenure track position in Algebra (including Algebraic Number Theory and Lie Theory). The appointment will normally be at the assistant professor level, with a start date in Summer 2014.
About Université Laval
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Université Laval invites applications for a faculty position in applied mathematics, in the field of Numerical analysis, and more precisely in Numerical continuum mechanics. The person hired will play a major leadership role in GIREF (Groupe interdisciplinaire de recherche en éléments finis). Preference will be given to an experienced researcher and hiring will normally be at the rank of associate professor. However, exceptional applications from young researchers will also be considered for hiring at the rank of assistant professor.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Université Laval invites applications for a tenure track position in Biostatistics. Hiring will normally be at the assistant professor level and the appointment would start in the summer of 2014. The Department, which is developing a Masters and a PhD program in Biostatistics with the Faculty of Medicine, is willing to support an application by a successful candidate for a Research Scholarship from one of the major granting bodies in Canada.

This tenure track position should be seen in the light of two dominant developments in current research in probability and statistics: (i) the data sets available in a broad range of application domains grow at an unprecedented rate, and (ii) the gap between 'formal' methods in stochastics on the one hand, and numerically implementable techniques on the other, increases.
Requirements for the position:
- PhD or very good Master/Diploma in Mathematics, Physics, or similar.
- Interest in mathematical biology and enthusiasm to work closely with systems biologists.
- Background (post-doc) or interest (PhD candidate) in discrete mathematics, commutative algebra, Gröbner bases, etc.
Opportunities:
- Full-time E13 Position
- The position is in collaboration with the Center for Dynamical Systems in Magdeburg. There will be regular meetings with systems biologists.
- There is no teaching obligation.
- You can obtain a PhD in Mathematics from OvGU Magdeburg.
Tenure Track Position in Algebra, Geometry and Mathematical Physics. For this position we are looking for a candidate with excellent research qualities in algebra, geometry (in a broad sense) and/or mathematical physics. We are looking for a candidate who could either strengthen or complement the existing research directions in our research group (Lie Theory, Algebraic Geometry, Integrable Systems and the Mathematical Aspects of Quantum Field Theory), and further enhances the cohesion within our research group.
