Student transition from school-level mathematics to university-level mathematics, often referred to as the secondary-tertiary transition
(STT) is an enduring, complicated and multi-faceted process. The EMS Education Committee is conducting a survey to collect and report to the mathematics community information needed in order to devise national and international actions that can essentially improve the state of the art with respect to STT. The survey is open until September 15, 2019.

  • Feedback from the EMS on the Implementation of Plan S

    The mathematical community has been for a long time on the forefront of establishing an accessible, efficient, fair and transparent scholarly publishing system. The EMS and its Publications and Electronic Dissemination Committee are in favour of Open Access to the scientific literature. They have given a detailed feedback on Plan S and its guidelines to the Science Europe Office. The text can be found here.

  • Open Position for Managing Editor of EMS - Publishing House in Berlin

    The European Mathematical Society has today signed the founding papers for the European Mathematical Society- EMS- Publishing House in Berlin which will be the successor of the current EMS PH located in Zürich. Many thanks to Thomas Hintermann, who successfully built up the current EMS PH for his great work, but he will retire this year and now the EMS Publishing House is seeking a new managing director, see the attached advertisement.

    Expected starting date: May 1, 2019
    Deadline for applications: March 15, 2019

  • Caucasian Mathematics Conference (CMC-III)

    The third Caucasian Mathematics Conference (CMC-III) will be organized in Rostov-on-Don, Russia on August 26-29, 2019, under the auspices of the European Mathematical Society (EMS) on the base of Southern Federal University and with cooperation of Armenian, Azerbaijan, Georgian, Iranian, Moscow and Turkish Mathematical Societies. Deadline for registration: July 20, 2019.
