5th Croatian Mathematical Congress

The 5th Croatian Mathematical Congress, organized by the Croatian Mathematical Society (CMS) and the Department of Mathematics, University of Rijeka, was held in Rijeka from 18th to 21th June 2012. The scientific part of the Congress consisted of plenary lectures, invited lectures, short communications and poster presentation. Further, there were 102 short communications and 15 poster presentations. The CMS Prize to a young mathematician was awarded to Igor Velčić for his original important contributions to the theory of plate models in elasticity obtained by simultaneous homogenization and dimensional reduction. Three round tables were also held, on the topics: Mathematics education - current state and perspectives, Enhancing mathematical education and research on non-mathematical study programs and Scientific journals.
