The Department of Mathematics and Physics announces a vacancy for a fixed-term position of Assistant professor.

The position of research scientist requires a doctoral degree, pedagogical expertise and teaching skills needed in the duties, proof of high-level scientific research work and publications, and the ability to head a research group and acquire research funding.

The Department of Mathematics and Physics is part of the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Inverse Problems Research selected by the Academy of Finland. The department seeks an expert in ­numerical and statistical methods to strengthen our group especially in the statistical analysis of heavy computing and large quantities of data.

The position is filled for a fixed term of four years with a four-month trial period. The pay is ­determined in accordance with the university pay system, and the job grade of the position is 6–7 (EUR 3254.17-3754.51/month) on the pay scale of the teaching and research staff. In addition, an individual pay component amounting to a maximum of 46.3% of the job-specific pay component is included in the pay.
