Chair in Applied Mathematics

Job Description: 

Applications are invited for a Chair in Applied Mathematics (Full Professorship) with effect from October 2013 or sooner.

Candidates should have research interests in applied mathematics in general, but preference will be given to those whose
research is in Biomathematics, Fluid Mechanics, or Numerical/Applied Analysis. A strong interest in Scientific Computing
is also desirable. A PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics or a related discipline is also a pre-requisite. Leadership qualities
are also required for this post. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Candidates will be expected to have an internationally leading research record in applied mathematics and an exceptionally
strong research record in their chosen field. A proven track record of securing research funding and sustaining a vigorous
research programme is essential.

In addition, candidates will be expected to have extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across a
range of subjects in applied mathematics (or related area) in general, and in their field of expertise in particular.
A substantial track record of successful postgraduate student supervision and postdoctoral mentoring is also necessary.
