Applications are invited for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (equivalent to an Assistant Professorship) in Numerical Analysis/Scientific Computing with effect from October 2013 or sooner.
Candidates will be expected to conduct research in numerical and/or applied analysis and have strong interests in scientific computing. Candidates are sought to enhance the computational research focus of the Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics (AMMP) Section and to contribute to the AMMP’s interdisciplinary research activities.
Candidates must have a PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematical Sciences or a closely related field and have a growing research record of international standing in numerical and computational mathematics applied to the physical or biological sciences and engineering. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding research potential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to direct the work of a small research team. Experience of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in applied and numerical analysis and/or scientific computing is essential.
For appointment to the position of Senior Lecturer, in addition to the above, candidates must have an exceptionally strong research record in Numerical Analysis/Scientific Computing or closely related subject. Experience in postgraduate training and undergraduate teaching in subjects within (or close to) the field of Mathematics is also essential. In addition, candidates must have a demonstratable track record of successful postgraduate student supervision.
