The Courant Institute will have a joint research institute at NYU's newest campus in Shanghai. NYU Shanghai therefore anticipates having a small number of faculty positions in mathematics to begin in September 2013. These tenure track appointments may be made at either a junior or senior level. Positions will be in a range of areas in computational, applied and pure mathematics. Some may be multidisciplinary appointments that are joint appointments with a science department.
Faculty members are expected to be outstanding scholars and to participate in teaching and advising at all levels from undergraduate to doctoral. The mathematics department will be comprised of affiliated faculty members from Courant, standing faculty members and several clinical, research, adjunct, and visiting faculty members. The department's research interests include but not limited to statistics, data sciences, applied analysis, fluid dynamics and mathematical physics.
NYU Shanghai is the newest degree-granting campus within NYU's global network. It is the first Sino-US higher education joint venture to grant a degree that is accredited in the US as well as in China. The terms of employment are comparable to U.S. institutions. Faculty may also spend time at NYU New York and other sites of the global network, engaging in both research and teaching opportunities.
