The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. which comprises eight non-university research institutes in Berlin and which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz Association.
WIAS invites applications for a
in the Research Group
"Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing”
(Head: Prof. Dr. V. John) starting at the earliest possible date (Ref. 13/03).
The position is aimed at the mathematical modeling an three-dimensional numerical simulation of semiconductor photon detectors using a research code developed at WIAS. The investigations are performed in cooperation with the semiconductor laboratory of the Max-Planck-Society.
Applicants are expected to have a master degree in a related topic and knowledge on numerical methods for the solution of partial differential equations.
The desired active participation in the cooperation project demands willingness and ability to perform teamwork in a joint project.

The appointment is limited for three years. The work schedule is 29,25 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German public service tariff scale.
