Salary: $79,230 - $111,708 plus 17% superannuation

Swinburne aims to be Australia’s leading university in science, technology and innovation by 2020 and have been aggressively building a Mathematics research program as our postgraduate numbers grow in this area. While continuing to offer high quality teaching to a wide range of engineering students, the Mathematics discipline at Swinburne is actively involved in building a new Bachelor of Science program in close collaboration with the Swinburne Physics group.
We are also continuing to develop an internationally recognised research program with strong research collaborations. This position is an opportunity for you to contribute to the development, implementation and delivery of Mathematics educational programs at Swinburne, including preparing high quality teaching materials with active learning concepts. This will involve:
preparing and delivering tutorials, lectures and seminars,
marking and assessment,
consultation with students, and,
Honours and postgraduate student supervision.
You will also assist the coordinator in the management of the Maths and Stats Help (MASH) Centre, which is a drop-in centre for students who need support with their mathematical studies. At Swinburne you will develop and undertake research in tertiary mathematics education, with expectations to publish research and participation in collaborative research projects. You will need a team-orientated focus and be expected to develop research activities through external funding bodies such as the OLT or ARC.
Skills and experience
You will need a PhD in Mathematics Education, Mathematics or an area related to Mathematics, and be eligible for membership of the Australian Mathematical Society to be successful in this role.
A strong record of research projects, collaboration and publications in mathematics education is essential.
Tertiary teaching experience is essential and you will need to demonstrate innovation and excellence in undergraduate mathematics education.
Interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively will be key to your success in this role.
