The successful applicant will provide strong academic and administrative leadership to the School. The Head of School will shape the profile of the School nationally and internationally, developing innovative academic programs, strengthening the School's research and teaching activities, securing external funds, and maintaining and enhancing the professional linkages of the School. Heads of School are responsible to the Executive Dean for the management of staff and resources and for the delivery of courses in programs offered by the Faculty of Science.
Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant discipline. The successful appointee will have demonstrated excellence in leadership and management. They will have a demonstrated understanding of the disciplines encompassed within the School and how they interact with broader scientific, professional, environmental, economic, governance and social sphere.
This is a full-time, continuing appointment as Professor (Level E). Appointment as Head of School will be full-time for five years in the first instance with a possible continuation of Headship by negotiation for a further term. Following the term as Head of School, the position will revert to a continuing appointment at Level E in the School of Mathematics and Physics. A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
