PhD position Singularity Theory

Applications are invited for a PhD position in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Halle. The PhD project under the supervision of Prof. J.H. Rieger will be in the area of singularities of mappings and of varieties, and the applicant should have a Master degree in Mathematics and should have a good background in singularity theory or in some related area such as algebraic geometry, commutative algebra or differential geometry.

The appointment on this position (as a wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin / wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, 50% TV-L 13) is initially for 3 years (with a possible 1-year extension) and includes weekly teaching duties of 2 hours during the semesters. For the teaching a good knowledge of the German language is required.
