London Mathematical Society Meeting

The next Meeting of the London Mathematical Society will be held on Friday 5 July from 3.30 - 6.30pm, at De Morgan House, 57-58 Russell Square, London.
We are pleased to welcome Prof Karl-Theodor Sturm (Bonn) and Prof SR Srinivasa Varadhan (Courant Institute, NYU) as speakers at this event.

Prof Sturm will give a talk on Geometric Analysis on the Space of Metric Measure Spaces.
Prof Karl-Theodor Sturm is professor of Mathematics at the University of Bonn and he works in stochastic analysis.

Prof Varadhan will give a lecture on Probability, Counting and Large Deviations.
Prof Srinivasa Varadhan is professor of Mathematics and the Frank J. Gould Professor of Science at the Courant Institute at NYU and is known for his fundamental contributions to probability theory and in particular for creating a unified theory of large deviations. He was awarded the Abel Prize in 2007 and received the United States National Medal of Science in 2010.

The winners of the Society's prizes for 2013 will also be announced.

The meeting will be followed by a wine reception at De Morgan House, and a Society Dinner at the Grange Whitehall Hotel (at a cost of £35 per person).
