On 17-21 May 2010 we will be celebrating the 60th birthday of Tomás Recio with
a conference. The emphasis will be on the areas of mathematics most prominent
in Tomás work. He has been a founder and father of the Spanish communities
in Real Algebraic Geometry and Computer Algebra and Geometry, and he has also
been deeply involved and influential in Mathematical Education. The conference
will take place at the CIEM (Centro Internacional de Encuentros Matemáticos)
in Castro Urdiales (70 km east of Santander and 40 west of Bilbao).
The conference will have about twenty five invited speakers (see the list
below) plus shorter contributed talks.
Abstract submission: If you are interested in giving a short talk, please send
a 1 page abstract to trecio60th@unican.es. The selection of talks and the date
assigned to them will be based on the suitability with the conference topics:
Real Algebraic Geometry (Monday 17 and Tuesday 18), Computer Algebra and
Geometry (Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20) and Mathematical Education (Friday
21). Deadline for abstracts submission is March 31st, 2010. If we receive too
many submissions we may move some contributions to a poster session. You will
be informed of our decision by April 15.
