Doctoral student in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg has about 200 employees and is the largest department of mathematics in Sweden. The department has three scientific divisions, Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability Theory, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics and conducts successful research in pure and applied mathematics and mathematical statistics in a wide range of research areas.

At the department of Mathematical Sciences there are many internationally successful researchers in a wide variety of research areas. The divisions Algebra and Geometry, and Analysis and Probability Theory conduct research in areas such as algebraic geometry, number theory, algebra and representation theory, harmonic analysis and partial differential equations, mathematical physics, probability and discrete mathematics, complex analysis, functional analysis, and kinetic theory.

We are now looking for up to two doctoral students in any of the research areas of the divisions Algebra and Geometry, and Analysis and Probability Theory. The positions can be placed in any of these two divisions depending on the interests of the successful candidates.
