Gran Sasso Science Institute is a new Center for Advanced studies and PhD School established in L’Aquila (Italy).
The Mathematics Area of GSSI invites highly qualified scientists in the field of Probability to send an Expression of Interest (EOI) in view of the possible activation of a position preferably, but not exclusively, at senior level. However applications from junior scientists, who have already shown a strong potential, will be taken under serious consideration.
GSSI has a strong interest to build up a research group in the area of Probability and its applications. Candidates with a strong research background in fields related to Stochastic Differential Equations, Interacting Particle Systems, Stochastic Network Dynamics, Random Graphs, Stochastic Control Theory and applications of the previous topics to Biology, Medicine and/or Social Sciences, are strongly encouraged to express their interest in GSSI.
GSSI seeks, as a priority, a senior scientist working on cutting edge research topics, with considerable experience in the supervision of successful doctoral students. The PhD School in Mathematics for Natural, Social and Life Science at GSSI enrolls in the average ten students per year, with a considerable number of non Italian and non EU nationals, hence the ideal candidate is expected to personally supervise at least one student per year and to be internationally recognized as part of a scientific network of leading experts in her/his own field, which could create an additional offer of potential high level supervisors for GSSI students.
Moreover candidates are expected to show a strong potential to apply to competitive research grants in particular towards EU funding schemes, previous successful applications will be highly considered.

Applicants should submit their expression of interest in the form of a CV including a full list of publications, academic records, prizes, honours, grants, graduate teaching and student supervision experience. Please include also a description of research interests and perspectives (no more than 5 pages). Applications (and questions regarding the application process) must be submitted in electronic form to the email address:
(reference: EOI-Probability).

Please note that this is not a permanent job vacancy advertisement. The expressions of interest received will contribute to the decision of the Gran Sasso Science Institute whether or not to open official calls, their number and the selection procedures.
