Mathematical models for porous media

The research activities within the Computational mathematics group at Hasselt University () have a focus on the mathematical modelling, analysis, upscaling and the numerical simulation of processes encountered in the real life. The present project is focused on mathematical aspects related to processes like flow and chemical reactions taking place in porous media and will be carried out within the Odysseus grant DynScale funded by the FWO. The research will be carried out in collaboration with international research partners in the Netherlands, Germany, and Norway.

We seek a postdoctoral researcher working on the modeling and the development of multi scale numerical algorithms for processes like multi-phase flow and reactive transport in porous media.

The requirements are:

Ph.D. in mathematics (or related disciplines with good mathematical background).

  • Interested in doing research in applied mathematics, in particular the mathematical modelling and numerical simulation of processes involving multiple scales.

  • Cooperative person who can work well in teams.

  • Good knowledge of English
