The research group for Mathematical Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has two openings for a
Ph.D. Position (75%, 3 years), or
Postdoctoral Position (100%, 2 years)
starting September 16, 2019 or later.
The successful applicants will work with Prof. Mathias Drton (email@example.com) on methodological and theoretical problems in statistical analysis of complex multivariate data. Topics of particular relevance are:
- graphical and causal models,
- issues of model selection, and
- algebraic aspects of statistical models.
Responsibilities include participation in teaching (e.g., tutorials and central classes).
- Master's/PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong mathematical preparation and interest in Statistics
- Good computational skills (e.g., in R)
- Fluency in English (knowledge of German is not required)
What we offer:
The positions are for three years at 75% time for doctoral researchers and two years at 100% time for postdocs. A competitive salary and benefits depending on work experience and seniority are paid in accordance with the public service wage agreement of the Free State of Bavaria (TV-L E 13).
