PhD position in Geometry
A PhD position at the Institute for Discrete Mathematics and Geometry in the Research Unit Differential Geometry and Geometric Structures, from September 1, 2019 for the duration of 4 years, working time 30 hours per week.
The monthly salary is at least EUR 2.148,40 (14 times per year). The amount can be increased on the basis of previous experience.
The successful candidate will have completed their Master thesis (or equivalent) in Mathematics. Applications of candidates with a strong background in differential geometry will be given preference.
The successful candidate will collaborate in research and teaching with members of the research group "Differential geometry and geometric structures", in particular, they are expected to engage in work on a doctoral thesis at the cross roads of differential and discrete geometry. Teaching duties involve exercise classes and seminars for mathematics students and students on the geometry teacher training programme at the Institute, at a load of about 2.5 weighted hours per year (e.g., tutorial classes carry a weight of 0.5).
