The department of Mathematics and Statistics at Lancaster University is seeking candidates for PhD in Mathematics or PhD in Statistics for three Department Studentships on offer for the 2018/19 academic year:
Research at Lancaster covers areas in Pure Mathematics and Statistics. The department offers the opportunity to study for a research degree in any of the areas of interest of our staff members:
Potential areas of research in pure mathematics include Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability, Discrete Mathematics and Geometric Rigidity.
Research in statistics at Lancaster is focussed at the interface of methodology and application, such as Extremes, Time Series, Computational Statistics, High-dimensional and Functional Data Analysis, Robust Estimation in Finance, Statistical Learning or Medical and Social Statistics.
