Post-doctoral position in Optimization of Personalized Treatments

Personalized or precision medicine aims at giving the “right treatment to the right patient”. It is one of the most promising areas of medical research, but its development is hindered by methodological limitation of studies used. Determining individualized treatment rules (ITR) is an active research field of biostatistics relying on recent statistical methods (machine learning, classification of high-dimensional data) that raises many statistical and computational challenges. For instance if measures of the performance of an ITR have been developed, testing whether personalization provides overall benefit remains an open problem.

The project OPT has as objectives to develop innovative approaches to identify individualized treatment strategies using both randomized trial and observational data, that will be generalized to situations where (1) more than two treatment options exist; (2) the treatment is decided during follow-up (time-varying treatment); (3) a meta-analysis of different studies is undertaken. Methods will be applied to real data.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a doctoral degree in statistics/machine learning or mathematics, interested by applications in health sciences. The position is open and to be filled as soon as a suitable candidate will be identified.

Team:

The team METHODS of CRESS, located at Hôtel-Dieu hospital in the center of Paris, is affiliated to Université de Paris and Inserm. It offers a dynamic international research environment. The project is conducted in close collaboration with the Laboratoire de Probabilités, Statistiques et Modélisation (LPSM) at Sorbonne Universités (PI Gérard Biau).

Mission: To participate to the ANR-funded OPT (Optimization of Personalization of Treatments) project.

Education level:

Doctoral degree in mathematics or (bio-)statistics

Duration: 12-14 months (depending on the starting date)

 

Salary: 2 200 to 2 400 € Net /month depending on experience
