The Division of Mathematics at the department of Mathematical Sciences at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg invites applications for a Postdoc position for a period of up to two years.

About the project Baxter’s solution of the eight-vertex model and the XYZ spin chain in the early 1970’s marked an important event in the theory of elliptic integrable systems. Attempts to understand this from an algebraic viewpoint led to the introduction of the Sklyanin algebra and other elliptic quantum groups. The study of models with higher spin led to the discovery of a novel class of special functions, elliptic hypergeometric functions. Elliptic quantum groups and elliptic hypergeometric functions are also linked to Calogero-Moser-type elliptic integrable particle systems, to indices of supersymmetric quantum field theories and to solutions of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov-Bernard equations from conformal field theory. Recent research also indicates potentially interesting relations to combinatorics.
