Postdoc position algebraic methods in biology
A postdoctoral position is available at the research group "Mathematics of Reaction Networks" (http://www.math.ku.dk/english/research/spt/reaction-networks/) at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, with start date September 2019. The position is for two years (1+1) and funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation of Denmark.
The project is on the mathematical analysis of a reaction network in the bacterium Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and additionally involves the development of new mathematical techniques, mainly algebraic. Specifically, the position is to study the bistability underlying the switch from acute to chronic infections in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa by exploring mathematical models and using the algebraic techniques developed within the mathematical theory of reaction networks.
The ideal candidate should have a strong mathematical background, specially in algebra/algebraic geometry/applied algebra. The candidate should also have a strong interest in learning and reading biology. Some experience in this direction is preferred, but not essential for the position. So candidates without knowledge in biology are welcome to apply.
Interested candidates should send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with their CV and letter of interest.
