Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position at the Université libre de Bruxelles in Brussels (Belgium).
The position is part of a research programme on optimization methods for the solution of inverse problems.
Interested candidates should have:
- a PhD in mathematics or related field, with a good publication record (peer-reviewed publications);
- a strong background in (applied) mathematics, in particular in one or more of the following fields: large scale optimization, inverse problems, convex analysis, applied or computational harmonic analysis, numerical analysis;
- the ability to work independently at a high scientific level;
- good communication skills in English (or French), both oral and written;
a strong motivation.
The candidate's PhD degree should be awarded no more than 8 years prior to the starting date of the appointment. Furthermore, the candidate must not have resided or carried out their main activity (employment, studies, etc.) in Belgium for more than 24 months during the 3 years immediately preceding the starting date.
The successful candidates will be offered a research position for one year. The salary is fixed in accordance with university guidelines for post-doctoral researchers.
The starting date of the appointment is October 1st, 2017.
