Postdoctoral Position (3 years)

We are seeking to appoint a post doc for 3 years fixed-term within the FWF funded project Asymptotic Geometric Analysis and Applications. We are looking for strong and ambitious candidates who are supposed to carry out research in the areas of asymptotic geometric analysis and probability theory in a broad sense. Topics include, but are not limited to, large deviations theory and central limit phenomena for geometric structures and quantities that appear in asymptotic geometric analysis, questions regarding the geometry of tensor product spaces or Schatten classes, and random matrix theory.
A PhD student will also join the research group with whom the post doc is encouraged to actively collaborate. Teaching in the field of probability theory of up to 2 hours per week during term time. Participation in organizational and administrative matters is expected.

The successful candidate should have:
- An excellent PhD in mathematics
- Strong record of scientific contributions in (geometric) functional analysis and/or probability theory. Background in large deviations theory or asymptotic geometric analysis is a clear advantage.
- Capacity for teamwork, organizational talent, and ability to communicate
- Ability to teach in german language is desirable, but is not a necessary requirement

Starting date and salary:
The position is available from May 1st, 2019 (starting date is flexible and can be discussed). The gross income is as suggested by the FWF according to a full-time post doc position and currently 3.803,90 Euros (14 times a year) [you can see the net salary here:,90/0/0].
