The professorship represents the areas of "Continuous Mathematical Optimization and Optimal Control" and combines application-driven research with a solid proficiency in calculus of variations, the theory of partial differential equations and optimal control. Expertise in numerical implementation is desirable. The job holder has the qualification and motivation to continue leadership of the workgroup 'Optimization and Optimal Control'. An active participation in the strategic university cooperation NAWI Graz is expected. Furthermore, a cooperation with BioTechMed-Graz and RICAM Linz is possible and desired.
Requirements for employment
Completion of an appropriate university degree at a university in Austria or abroad
Habilitation or equivalent qualification in mathematics
Excellent scientific qualification in research and teaching for the relevant subject (relative to academic age)
Work experience abroad after Master's degree
Experience with acquisition of third-party funds
Management and leadership experience

The candidate is expected to demonstrate his/her educational and didactic skills. Teaching in the area of applied mathematics, in particular optimization, on the level of the bachelor's and master's programme (diploma, teacher training programme) as well as the doctoral programme. Corresponding to the academic curriculum vitae a high-quality publication activity (publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals), which also quantitatively reflects a professional focus on the research profile, and experience in the acquisition of competitive third-party funds is expected. Competence in the supervision / instruction of young researchers is desirable.
