Professor in Mathematics (geometry) (M/F)

Your role

The chair is attached to the Department of Mathematics (RMATH). The new professor will contribute to re-enforcing the current core strength of the Mathematics Department in geometry, to develop new research directions within RMATH, and to expand existing and develop new connections to research in other fields.
(S)he will contribute to the teaching missions of the Mathematics Department at all levels, including mathematics courses at the bachelor level both for mathematics students and for students specializing in other fields, and specialized courses at the master and doctoral level.
The successful candidate will be expected to advise PhD candidates and contribute to doctoral and postdoctoral training (e.g. organization of research seminars, reading groups, winter and summer schools, etc.).

Your profile

The successful candidate will have made important contributions to mathematics, in geometry or a related area: geometric analysis, geometric group theory, algebraic geometry, topology, mathematical physics, etc. (S)he will have a demonstrated potential as a first-rate researcher. An interest for applications will be considered an asset.
(S)he will have a successful experience in teaching of mathematics, and be willing to contribute to the teaching missions of the Mathematics Department at the bachelor, master and doctoral level, as well as in administrative tasks.

Qualifications, experience, aptitude
• Ph.D. in mathematics,
• A minimum of five years post-doctoral experience in a university or comparable research centre.
• Languages
The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual and multicultural context. For this position, a good knowledge of English is required, as well as a working knowledge of either French or German.
