Professorship in Algebra and Geometry (W3)
The Mathematical Institute at the University of Cologne announces a vacancy for a
professorship in Algebra and Geometry (W3)
to be filled as soon as possible.
The professorship is assigned to the field of algebra/geometry. The applicant should be an internationally recognized expert in a current field of research of algebra with strong connections to geometry (e.g. complex algebraic geometry, building theory, geometric representation theory), in order to allow further cooperation and the creation of focus points within the existing research groups of algebra and geometry. Active participation in the existing Collaborative Research Centre / Transregio (CRC/TRR 191) „Symplectic Structures in Geometry, Algebra and
Dynamics" is considered especially important.
The duties of the professorship include active participation in teaching responsibilities as well as in the academic self-administration. Non-German-speaking candidates are expected to acquire proficiency in German over a period of two years.
In accordance with section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW), the formal requirements for the appointment are a university degree, pedagogic suitability, doctorate as well as additional scientific achievements performed in the context of a habilitation or, e.g. during a position as research assistant or junior professor.
