Heidelberg University invites applications for a

Professorship (W3) in Scientific Visualization

at Heidelberg University (with tenure). The successful candidate will be in charge of an independent research group at the “Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS)” and will be affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. Focus of the scientific research should be on one or more of the following areas:
• visualization techniques closely related to computer simulations,
• mathematically based visualization techniques,
• feature-based visualization.
The successful candidate is expected to have a distinct international research record in these areas of research. Close collaborations with the existing research groups at Heidelberg University and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) are expected. As a member of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, adequate participation is expected in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses within the study programs of the Faculty.

Prerequisites for application are a university degree and (in accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the state of Baden-Württemberg) a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualifications.
