School of Mathematical Sciences

The School of Mathematical Sciences at Monash University invites applicants for the position of Research Fellow on a project on computational Lie theory.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Monash University, under the guidance of Dr Heiko Dietrich (and A/Prof Willem de Graaf, Italy). This research will focus on computing with Lie algebras and Lie groups, in particular, nilpotent orbits in real semisimple Lie algebras.

Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline, proven ability to perform collaborative research, the experience of publishing in high-quality journals, and proficiency with a computer algebra system. A good knowledge in Lie theory (Lie algebras, Lie groups, algebraic groups) is essential.
