Researcher in mathematics with focus on nonlinear partial differential equations
A one-year postdoc position connected to the ERC project 3DWATERWAVES, which concerns mathematical models for water waves and stationary ideal flows with vorticity in three dimensions. The main research task is to analyse these models using methods from nonlinear functional analysis (local and global bifurcation theory, spectral theory, variational methods, Nash-Moser iteration). If the applicant wishes, some teaching can also be included (at most 20%).
A PhD degree, awarded (or planned to be awarded before the commencement of the project) in mathematics is a requirement. You should have a strong background in partial differential equations, preferably related to fluid mechanics, free boundaries and/or nonlinear waves. You should have the ability to plan and carry out research of high quality and this should be reflected in your publications. You should also be motivated, have initiative, be able to work independently and in groups, and be perseverant. Good knowledge in spoken and written English is a requirement.
