Senior Assistant position non-tenure track in Geometry and Algebra (80-100%)
The Chair of Geometry / Algebra (Prof. Ruth Kellerhals) at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) invites applications for the position of Senior Assistant non-tenure track in Geometry and Algebra (80 – 100%).
It is part of the duties of the senior assistant to teach 3 - 4 hours a week on all levels, including service courses, mainly in algebra and geometry.
An intensive research activity in a domain between algebra and geometry such as geometric group theory, arithmetic lattices and spaces of negative curvature, low dimensional geometry and topology, discrete geometry and geometry of numbers, is expected. The successful candidate will supervise master theses, organise student seminars, and participate in the scientific and administrative organisation of the chair and the department. Potential for seeking for external funding is desired.
Candidates must be in possession of a Ph.D. in pure mathematics and show strong promise of excellence in research and teaching. They must be fluent in German or French with a good understanding of the other language (after a convenient time of adaptation, if necessary).
The position starts August 1, 2020, and is limited to 5 years.
