University Professor of Computational Medicine
At the University of Vienna and the Medical University Vienna the position of a
University Professor of Computational Medicine
(full time, permanent position) is to be filled.
We are looking for outstanding scientists who pursue innovative research at one of the various interfaces between computer science and/or mathematics on the one hand and medicine and biomedical research on the other hand. Candidates should work on mathematical and/or computer science aspects of problems arising in computational medicine and have documented experience in related interdisciplinary work. Particular research areas with relevant medical applications include (but are not limited to): reliability, dependability, interpretability, scalability and performance of machine learning methods with complex biomedical data sets; privacy-preserving and distributed data mining methods; computational biomedical image analysis; data-driven modelling and simulation; optimization and control of processes governed by partial differential equations; uncertainty quantification and reliable decision support systems in computational medicine; or machine learning and statistical methods for data analysis. The position is part of an initiative to strengthen the translational research between the University of Vienna and Medical University of Vienna. Consequently, the holder of the position is expected to be in close interaction and cooperation with related research groups at both universities.
Successful candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Doctoral degree/PhD and post-doctoral experience at a university or other research institution
- Strong commitment to interdisciplinary, collaborative research and willingness to contribute to strategic initiatives in the area of digital medicine in Vienna, Austria and internationally
- Outstanding achievements in research, excellent publication record, international reputation; that can be verified as international equivalent qualification to a Habilitation
- Experience in designing, procuring and managing large research projects, as well as the willingness and ability to lead research groups
- Enthusiasm for excellent teaching, teaching experience at universities as well as the ability and willingness to teach students in all phases of their studies (bachelor's, master's, or doctoral level), to supervise academic theses and to promoting young academic colleagues
In addition, we expect the successful candidate to be prepared to take over responsibility on the organisational level of the Universities, if necessary.
