at the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics. The position will be based on a permanent civil-law employment contract with the University.

The successful candidate shall represent the subject of Stochastics both in research and teaching. Her/ His scientific contributions should be based on theoretically sound mathematical methods and be of relevance for current research areas as well as for applications in natural sciences, economy and engineering. She/ He shall endeavour for scientific contacts with national and international research institutions of high reputation and acquire research grants. In addition, co-operations within the department and interdisciplinary co-operations within the university are expected.

The successful candidate supervises lectures in mathematics at all levels of the university’s education at the faculty in the particularly research area and in related areas, alternatively in English. Candidates without knowledge of German are expected to learn German within the first two years of their appointment.

Contributions to the further development of the department and the faculty and public outreach activities are expected as well as participation in academic administration and self-governance.

a) a pertinent degree in higher education;
b) a pertinent habilitation or equivalent qualification;
c) publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals;
d) involvement in international research activities and pertinent international experience;
e) experience in the acquisition of research funds;
f) didactic competence and teaching experience;
g) social competence and leadership ability.
