Visiting position in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Costa Rica invites applications for a visiting position, starting in August 2016. This position may be renewed annually up to a maximum of three years and is not a tenure-track position. Customarily, the teaching load is two courses in one semester and one course in the other semester. Preference will be given to applicants working in the following research areas: Algebra, Algebraic Geometry, Algebraic Number Theory and Model Theory.

Candidates should have a Ph. D. degree in Mathematics, awarded before the beginning of the appointment. They must exhibit clear research potential, and have a strong commitment to both teaching and research. To receive full consideration, complete applications should be received by March 25, 2016.
A complete application consists of:

1. Cover letter: The letter must contain the contact data of the persons who will provide the recommendation letters.
2. Curriculum Vitae. 

3. Research statement. 

4. Teaching statement. 

5. At least three (3) letters of recommendation, to be submitted by their authors to, clearly stating the full name of the candidate. One of these letters should explicitly address the teaching skills of the applicant. 

6. Good knowledge of Spanish or English.
