W3-Professorship in Numerical Mathematics

The Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, Faculty of Mathematics,
Institute of Analysis and Numerics seeks to appoint as of April 1, 2016 a tenured
W3-Professor for Numerical Mathematics in Applications.

The applicant should be an internationally recognised expert in developing and
implementing numerical methods for differential equations and their applications in
engineering, life sciences, or applied sciences. Priority will be given to applicants with a
strong background in modern analysis. A willingness to cooperate with colleagues in the
faculty of mathematics and in the engineering/life science/applied science departments
or in Magdeburg’s research institutes is expected. The successful applicant will teach
and train mathematics students at all levels, in particular in analysis and numerics, and
will teach and train students of other faculties in mathematics service courses.
In order to be considered for this position, the applicant must have a Habilitation, or be
equivalently qualified: for example appropriate experience obtained as a junior or
assistant professor will be sufficient.
