The International Mathematical Union has prepared a proporsal to have March 14 declared as the International Day of Mathematics (IDM) by UNESCO. Every year, all countries will be invited to celebrate the IDM in the schools and with the public, under a theme proposed by the Committee of the IDM. This initiative is supported by the EMS.

At this stage we are looking for support of countries: national commissions and permament delegations of countries at UNESCO. As the members of UNESCO are states (countries), only countries can propose an international day. The project is downloadable from the link below.
