Tenure Track Associate Professorship in Number Theory and/or Diophantine Geometry

The Paris Lodron-University Salzburg is inviting applications for a scientific collaborator (tenure track associate professor) within the Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Natural Sciences.The employment will be full-time and limited to 6 years, with the following possibility of an open-ended employment contract in case of meeting the necessary requirements of a qualification agreement according to the Austrian University Act UG 2002 and the Austrian Employee Act.
The monthly salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 4.119,40 gross (14x / year), if the qualification agreement is not completed at the start of employment the monthly salary according to the classification scheme will be EUR 3.483,30 gross (14x / year) until completion of the qualification.

Areas of responsibility: relevant habilitation within the defined period (max. 4 years) or under special circumstances another specified qualification; own scientific research and teaching, scientific support in the research and teaching program and involvement in the administrative duties of the working group “Discrete Mathematics”; independent research and publication activities including the obtaining of external funding; teaching responsibilities totaling four hours per week during each semester (eight hours per week after qualification) as well as supervision of (bachelor, master and doctoral) thesis; involvement in the departmental administrative duties; participation in scientific events
General requirements: the position requires a doctoral degree in mathematics; outstanding research achievements documented by publications in the field of number theory and/or Diophantine geometry
Preferred additional qualifications: practical experience in teaching and in the obtaining and organizing of externally funded projects; experience abroad
Personal qualities: reliability, strong team working skills, commitment, talent for organization, goal orientation, high level of motivation and enthusiasm for teaching and research
