Two PhD positions in Inverse Problems
The workgroup on Inverse Problems at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bremen invites applications for two PhD positions in the field of inverse scattering problems (wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter(in), 75% TV-L 13, three year contract). The positions will be linked to the project 'Regularization methods in Banach spaces and applications to inverse scattering problems' with a focus on the development and numerical implementation of modern regularization methods for scattering problems in the context of sparse inhomogeneous media. Each position will have a teaching load of one tutorial session every second semester.
The intended starting date of the contracts is 1st August 2014 or later. The positions require a degree in mathematics, applied mathematics or a related field and experience in dealing with non-linear inverse problems as well as programming. German skills are not strictly necessary. The contracts might be extended depending on progress and the availability of new funding.
In case of questions, do not hesitate to contact Armin Lechleiter (firstname.lastname@example.org). Interested persons are invited to submit an application dossier consisting of a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae with full contact information, copies of diplomas and their PhD thesis to the group's assistant Ebba Feldmann (email@example.com).
The official announcement of the two positions (in German) can be found on the website of the University of Bremen:
