The European Mathematical Society is a learned society representing mathematicians throughout Europe.
It promotes the development of all aspects of mathematics in Europe, in particular mathematical research, relations of mathematics to society, relations to European institutions, and mathematical education.
The EMS has as its members around 60 national mathematical societies in Europe, 20 mathematical research centres, and 3000 individuals.

Dear EMS member,

At the beginning of this year, let me express my best wishes for a prosperous and peaceful 2013. It is my pleasure to be in touch with you to report on some aspects of the work of the Society in 2012, along with some plans for activities in the near future.
